Area of interest and approach to treatment

Cindy is a professional soft tissue therapist trained for 3 years in all aspects of musculoskeletal healthcare and soft tissue treatment. Through careful history taking and clinical assessment Cindy will choose the most appropriate techniques to target your condition. Throughout Cindy's career she has done work with the 'Sydney Football Club' and the 'Victoria Indoor Netball Open Ladies' recently returning from the 2006 National's held in Perth.

Cindy area of specialty includes headache's, hip pain & hip mis-alignment caused by musculoskeletal dysfunction as well as muscular strain's, postural correction and sporting injuries.

Her approaches to management include:

  • Soft tissue manipulation; Stretching, compression & massage techniques used to restore the normal integrity of soft tissue (muscle, tendons, ligaments & fascia).
  • Thermal therapies (heat & cold)
  • Myofascial dry needling; the use of acupuncture needles to de-activate trigger points, relieve area's of tension, decrease pain sensation (especially useful with chronic pain cases), encourage healing of damaged tissue or break down of scar tissue.
  • Myofascial stretching; stretching of the fascia surrounding soft tissue to encourage increased circulation and range of movement.
  • Corrective & rehabilitative exercise
  • Trigger Point Deactivation; trigger points can be painful & refer to other parts of the body, they are often created when a muscle is damaged or overused through stress, bad postural habits, sport, accidents, occupations & diseases.
  • TENS; Transcutaneous Electrical Stimulation; the use of electrical stimulation to encourage healing and decrease pain.
