Member of Australian Association of Massage
Therapy
Area of interest and approach to treatment
Paul Carter and I have been a massage therapist
for over ten years. During this time, he has studied a variety of massage
styles which he incorporates in a massage treatment to meet the needs
of the client. This may be to de-stress and relax or for more specific
musculoskeletal problems.
Paul has a keen interest in
health and wellbeing from a young age and since becoming a massage therapist
have worked in multi modality clinics as well as some of Australia's
leading hotels and spas. Paul is also currently completing his Bachelor
of Chinese medicine.
He has a strong passion in
Chinese medicine and his massage style has got a distinctive oriental
flavour. Within a session, as well as asking questions to ascertain
information about history, lifestyle and current goals for health, he
will also feel the pulse and look at the tongue to gain an understanding
of the internal energy patterns. By doing this, Paul aims to treat any
underlying energy disharmonies as well as the exterior presenting problem.
The techniques used vary from
long sweeping Hawaiian moves with my forearms to short vigorous Chinese
tuina moves and pressure point therapy, ranging from light pressure
to deep tissue techniques. The following modalities may be included
in a session to bring a client back into balance: Shiatsu, Hawaiian,
Therapeutic, Reflexology, Chinese Tui Na, Sports/Deep Tissue, Relaxation
and Swedish. Some tools Paul like to use include hot stones, cupping
and magnet therapy.
Some conditions that are effectively
treated include stress, sciatica
insomnia, headaches, constipation, sporting injuries and neck and back
pain
